Overview

Athena is a generative AI platform built to help professionals stand out in a competitive job market. It gives users AI-powered tools to create polished resumes, personalized cover letters, optimized LinkedIn profiles, and professional AI-generated headshots — all in one place.

What started as an internal tool for Intellectual Point students evolved into a fully public, subscription-based SaaS product with Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers serving individual professionals and organizations alike.

The Problem

Job seekers consistently struggle with the same friction points: resumes that don't get past ATS filters, LinkedIn profiles that fail to attract recruiters, and cover letters that feel generic. The tools that existed were either too basic or required hours of manual work. Intellectual Point wanted to give their students a serious edge — and a product that could eventually stand on its own.

My Role

I co-developed Athena from the ground up as part of a small engineering team. My primary ownership was on the frontend — architecting the application in Next.js, wiring up GraphQL with Apollo Client and type-safe codegen, and building the majority of the UI from design through implementation.

The most technically involved feature I owned was the AI headshot generator — a custom interface that lets users upload a single reference photo and then control advanced parameters in real time: facial features, hairstyles, wardrobe, backgrounds, and model settings. This required building a responsive, stateful UI that communicated with image generation pipelines and surfaced live feedback as outputs were produced.

Outcome

Athena launched initially as a beta exclusively for Intellectual Point students, then expanded into a public SaaS product. The platform now operates across three tiers — Pro at $19.99/month, Business with coaching and analytics, and Enterprise with custom pricing and admin tooling — with a 30-day money-back guarantee across all plans.
